Charity Golf Tournament

MCL Longhorn Detachment is a proud sponsor of Wheelchairs 4 Kids.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities. Mobility aids, like wheelchairs, rampways, widening of doorways, lifts to get in and out of the bathtub or off the toilet, can multiply into tens of thousands of dollars. Families are forced to turn to Medicare, which will fund the original cost. However, Medicare will not come back for 5 years. So, as the child grows (2-3 years later), the wheelchair does more damage than good, causing medical problems like scoliosis, respiratory problems, and other physical infirmities.

Purchasing a new assistive device is unfeasible for many families, and they need to turn to outside sources to help with this major life decision. The Marine Corps League Longhorn Detachment is coming to the rescue. With your support, donations, and participation in the Annual MCL Golf Tournament, we can purchase wheelchairs for needy children in our local area.

Les Stevenson was responsible for the detachment's relationship with Wheelchairs 4 Kids, which has been the detachment's golf tournament beneficiary since 2015. He passed away on January 15, 2025. In honor of Les, our charity Golf Tournament has been renamed the "Cpl. Les Stevenson Charity Golf Tournament benefiting Wheelchairs 4 Kids."
